Press Release -
May 18, 2007

Australian mobile phone provider, Vodafone Australia, has quelled
speculation that it would be sold by its UK-based parent, denying a
recent report in New Zealand’s National Business Review.
“Vodafone has absolutely no intention of selling its Australian or New
Zealand operations,” commented Vodafone Australia CMO, John Casey.
The National Business Review article had claimed there were strong
indications that Vodafone Group, the world’s largest wireless carrier,
was seeking to unload its businesses in Australia and New Zealand, and
that Australian telecom incumbent, Telstra was a likely buyer.
