Telekom Austria to Expand aonTV IPTV Service this Year

Austria’s incumbent telephone operator, Telekom Austria, currently signs up an average of 1,000 new households each week for its IPTV service, aonTV, and hopes to extend aonTV coverage to 50% of the country’s population by the end of this year.

Telekom Austria is aiming to expand its IPTV content portfolio to around 100 channels by late 2008. It has also announced an agreement with On Demand Deutschland that will see aonTV’s Video On Demand line-up swell to more than 500 movies within the same timeframe.

The cost of aonTV will remain at just EUR 4.90 per month, when bundled with a Telekom Austria broadband connection.
