Swedish Cable Operator
Orders Nokia-Siemens IMS Solution

Networking equipment giant, Nokia Siemens, announced yesterday that it
had won a contract to provide IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) solutions
to Swedish cable and internet operator, Com Hem.
IMS
is an advanced architectural framework used in IP voice and multimedia
transmission over wireless and wireline networks.
Nokia
Siemens will equip Com Hem’s cable broadband network with a complete
IMS Core system, so as to enhance the company’s existing Voice over IP
services, which are based on Siemens’ SURPASS hiQ VoIP application
server.
Over
50 service providers around the world are currently trialling Nokia
Siemens’ IMS-based VoIP solutions, the Helsinki, Finland-based
networking joint venture revealed.
