Nokia Siemens Hopes to
Increase Market Share in North America
Press Release - June 22, 2007
The
world’s third biggest telecom equipment manufacturer, Nokia Siemens
Networks, is planning an aggressive effort to improve its position in
the North American market, according to the joint venture’s Chief
Executive Officer, Simon Beresford-Wylie.
“Nokia Siemens is number one or number two in all markets except North
America, where we’re sixth,” the CEO commented in a recent conference
in Toronto. “We are determined to have a position in North America
that’s representative of our global position generally.”
Nokia
Siemens Networks was formed last year when Finland’s Nokia and
Germany’s Siemens agreed to merge their telecom equipment divisions.
The venture has annual sales of €17.1 billion, trailing only Ericsson
and Alcatel-Lucent in the global telecom gear market.
