Motorola Ventures, the venture capital arm of America’s largest
handset maker, has invested in in Amimon, a small U.S.-Israeli
company that specializes in wireless HDTV.
Amimon received some press coverage back in January when its wireless
high-definition interface (WHDI) was showcased at the Consumer
Electronics Show in Las Vegas. The new technology facilitates the
uncompressed wireless transmission of high-definition television
content to flat-panel TV sets and PCs, and is compatible with other
high-speed interfaces such as HDMI and VGA graphics display systems.
Motorola is now providing Amimon with an undisclosed amount of
investment funding, joining other tech heavyweights like Apple and
Samsung who have also been expressing confidence in the digital home
entertainment market.
