Movies on SD
Press Release -
May 14, 2007

American handset maker, Motorola Inc., is gearing up to unveil a new
3G cell phone with the ability to play feature-length films, the
company’s CEO, Ed Zander announced last week.
“It is a media monster,” Zander said at the Software 2007 conference
in Silicon Valley, after giving a brief description of the forthcoming
device. It is set to be formally unveiled this Tuesday, and will
likely make its debut in the European market, where high-speed mobile
data networks are fairly widespread.
On
a related note, Zander revealed that Motorola has partnered with a
company that makes multi-gigabyte Secure Digital (SD) cards for mobile
devices, and aims to develop SD as a new form of mass distribution for
feature-length movies.
“We are working with another company to deliver movies on SD cards,”
Zander said. .”You can start watching unbelievable quality movies.”
Motorola, whose weak sales in recent quarters has been blamed on a
poor presence in the 3G handset market, is expected to launch a
variety of high-end video and multimedia-equipped cell phones in the
months to come.
