Motorola to Supply BT Vision with Next-Generation V-Boxes

UK telecommunications incumbent, BT, has selected Motorola as the lead supplier of next-generation set-top boxes for the BT Vision digital television service.

Motorola will supply the telecom giant with a new generation of V-Boxes,” boasting a new design, improved energy efficiency, and enhanced capabilities. The new HD-enabled boxes will provide access to as many as 40 Freeview TV channels, and the ability to record approximately 80 hours of video content, as well as on-demand access to a huge library of films, TV shows, and interactive applications.

The new boxes are due out sometime in 2009. Financial terms of the BT-Motorola deal were not released.
