Global Broadband
Revenues to Pass Half-a-Billion in 2011
Press Release - June 10, 2007
The
number of high-speed internet subscribers around the world will almost
double over the next five years, according to the research firm,
In-Stat, reaching a grand total of 567-million at the end of 2011.
Approximately 65 million people have signed up for broadband services
in the past 12 months alone, In-Stat’s study shows, for a market size
of 285 million early this year.
Researchers predict that, by late 2011, nearly 10% of broadband
households will use fiber-optic connections, while a slight majority
(58%) will use DSL. As of today, about two thirds of the global market
relies on DSL technology, while cable modem services continue to hold
a slight edge in North America.
