Digicel and Vimio Launch Mobile TV Service in Jamaica

Caribbean wireless carrier, Digicel, is rolling out a new mobile television service on the island of Jamaica.

The service is powered by Vimio’s Live TV solution, and provides access to content from Jamaica’s national broadcaster, CVM TV, as well as the country’s leading music network, Hype TV.

“The adoption of Vimio’s Live TV offering by Digicel is a very strong endorsement of our technology,” commented Vimio CEO, Malachy Harkin. “They enjoy a strong position in an important market, so the fact that we are supporting their mobile television initiative should act as an excellent customer reference.”

Digicel has been the Caribbean’s fastest growing wireless operator since its launch in 2001, and has recently started expending into Central America’s mobile data market.
