Broadcom Completes $31
Million Octalica Acquisition

Broadband chipmaker, Broadcom, has completed its acquisition of
Octalica, a privately-owned startup that develops home networking
technologies for the Multimedia over Coax Alliance (MoCA) standard.
Broadcom paid approximately $31 million for all outstanding shares of
the Newton Center, Massachusetts-based company, and hopes to make
inroads into the MoCA digital multimedia market as a result of this
acquisition.
MoCA
technology can potentially distribute high-speed data and video feeds
within a home at speeds of up to 270-Mbps, using existing coaxial
cables.
