Apple iPhone’s U.S.
Launch Set for June 29
Press Release - June 5, 2007

Apple’s much-anticipated
iPhone
device will hit the U.S. market on June 29, the manufacturer revealed
in a series of TV commercials that began running on Sunday.
The
iPhone is pitched as a device that combines the functions of an iPod
music and video player with those of an advanced cellular phone. It
will be sold exclusively by AT&T Wireless, at a cost of $499 to $599,
depending on the amount of on-board memory.
AT&T
hasn’t yet said how it plans to distribute the new device, but a
first-come, first-served system will virtually guarantee long lineups
outside the carrier’s retail stores come the morning of June 29.
The
Apple iPhone’s launch, previously rumored to be taking place on June
13, will put an end to a five-month guessing game over a device that
already seems to have gained the
faith of a nation.
