American Households Get Average of 104

The average American household received a record 104.2 television
channels in 2006, according to the latest numbers from Nielsen Media
Research, up almost eight channels from 2005.
The average home tuned into 15.7 channels for at least 10 minutes per
week, the data showed, with Dramas remaining the biggest source of
prime time programming on major U.S. broadcast networks. The 30-second
commercial spot is still the biggest source of revenue for
broadcasters, accounting for 57% of all prime-time ad sales.
In
terms of general findings, Nielsen discovered that 82% of U.S.
households have more than one TV set, for an average of 2.8 sets per
