Advanced Wireless Services Target
Entry-Level Cell Phones
Press Release -
February 12, 2007
As
the market for advanced wireless services expands and matures, we are
seeing a growing number of free mobile applications and add-ons for
even the most basic of cellular devices.
Contrary to what you might think, it’s no longer necessary to buy an
advanced smartphone or BlackBerry just to check your email on the go.
The vast majority of basic handsets now offer some kind of data
access, giving cell phone users to option of accessing services like
GMail and the Yahoo Go suite of services.
Instant messaging is another feature that’s seemingly available on a
greater number of handsets with each passing year, as applications
like MSN Messenger, Yahoo Instant Messenger, and AIM are made
specifically available for wireless users. Special software for
document viewing and GPS navigation is also becoming fairly
widespread.
As
mobile technology advances, it seems inevitable that tomorrow’s
low-cost cell phones will bear a striking resemblance to miniature
computers, greatly expanding the number of tasks we can complete on
the go.
