Nokia Siemens Wins Wireless Networking

Finland-based telecom equipment joint venture, Nokia Siemens
Networks, has won a contract worth US$500 million to manage and
expand the network of Indian wireless carrier, Idea Cellular Ltd.
The two-year contract will see Nokia Siemens supplying and servicing
wireless equipment for the Mumbai-based company, according to a joint
statement from the two companies.
Idea Cellular currently operates mobile networks in 11 out of the 23
regions that form India’s wireless market, and currently has 14.56
million customers, making it the country’s fifth biggest carrier.
