AT&T Wireless Launches
International SMS Service
Press Release - June 3, 2007
AT&T
Wireless announced on Thursday that it is launching America’s first
widely available overseas text messaging plan, allowing its customers
to send SMS messages to other mobile phone users around the world for
as little as $0.10 a pop.
Beginning today, AT&T cell phone users will be able to pay $9.99/month
for up to 100 international messages to any of over 140 countries.
This
new offering clearly reflects the increasing popularity of text
messaging in the U.S. market, which has traditionally lagged behind
Europe and Asia in take up of SMS services.
