Deutsche Telekom Expects Fixed-Line Revenue to Decline in 2008
Press Release - January 7, 2008
German telephone incumbent, Deutsche Telekom, expects it fixed-line revenues to continue declining this year, despite a strong broadband business partially offsetting the effect of dwindling landline telephone usage.
“We won’t be able completely to stop the fixed-line sales decline next year but we are trying to achieve as soft a landing as possible,” said Deutsche Telekom CEO, Rene Obermann, in an interview with German daily, Boersen-Zeitung.
Obermann added that he expected the company to beat its 2007 goal of winning more than 40% of all new DSL subscriptions in Germany, despite stiff competition from rivals like United Internet and Freenet.
