TelstraClear Signs Wireless Resale Agreement with NZ Telecom
Press Release - August 14, 2007
New Zealand’s leading telephone provider, NZ Telecom, announced on Monday that it would allow Australia-based TelstraClear to resell mobile phone services over its wireless network.
This agreement comes shortly after an investigation by New Zealand’s competition regulator into why the country has only two active cell phone carriers – NZ Telecom and a local subsidiary of UK-based Vodafone.
Australian telecom incumbent, Telstra Corp., is already New Zealand’s second largest landline provider, but has had no presence in the country’s wireless market since dropping out of a minor resale contract with Vodafone in June.
“Our customers can look forward to a unique TelstraClear service, with new TelstraClear branded handsets, bundles and pricing plans that are different to those offered by other players today,” commented TelstraClear CEO, Allan Freeth.
The new service is expected to launch by the end of this year. |
