Stage 2 Networks and BroadSoft Develop Enhanced Call Screening

New Feature Creates Enhanced Functionality for Hosted PBX Customers

New York, NY (April 27, 2009) - Stage 2 Networks, a leader in hosted PBX solutions, today announced that it will be offering an Enhanced Call Screening feature for its hosted PBX service. Stage 2 originally purchased a Hosted PBX solution from BroadSoft®, the leading worldwide provider of VoIP applications. Leveraging BroadSoft's Web services, both companies worked together to develop an Enhanced Call Screening feature that will be offered to Stage 2's customers as an additional service attribute.

A typical Call Screening feature allows a party receiving a phone call to hear the identification of a caller without human intervention, when the system identifies a 10-digit phone number in Caller ID. The caller would speak his name when prompted and the receiving party would hear the name and choose whether to answer the call or let it ring into voicemail. However, Stage 2 had a customer specification of the Call Screening function requiring the caller's name to be announced, even when the system identifies the 10-digit phone number as "Anonymous" or "Private".

"The power and extensibility inherent in BroadSoft's BroadWorks® platform enabled us to quickly and easily accommodate our customer's requirement. BroadSoft was extremely responsive to our need and collaborated with us to develop the new functionality," said Joseph P. Gillette, president and CEO of Stage 2 Networks. "Without BroadWorks' robust capabilities, we would have had to go off of our network and pay additional 3rd party fees to offer this function to our customers, and thus increasing the monthly cost of service for the end user. Using Xsi-Media, BroadSoft's standards-compliant VoiceXML/ccXML capabilities, Stage 2 engineers quickly modified the specific functionality of the software."

"BroadSoft is responsive to our customers' requirements, which is why we created BroadSoft Xtended, a program that enables developers and our service provider customers to share code and platform enhancements," said Leslie Ferry, vice president of marketing at BroadSoft. "Stage 2 took our Xsi-Media solution, modified it and went to market with an Enhanced Call Screening solution in an extremely short time."

Stage 2 continually strives to add and/or replace as much user functionality as possible. As evidenced, the Enhanced Call Screening feature now works on every incoming call regardless of whether the system recognizes a caller's phone number.
