Skype VoIP Network Experiences Ongoing Software Glitch
Press Release - August 16, 2007

Many users of the online VoIP service, Skype, have been affected by a software glitch today, preventing them from logging on and using the popular internet voice platform.
“Some of you may be having problems logging into Skype,” the company acknowledged on its support blog, just after 10am Eastern Daylight Time. “Our engineering team has determined that it’s a software issue. We expect this to be resolved within 12 to 24 hours. Meanwhile, you can simply leave your Skype client running and as soon as the issue is resolved, you will be logged in. We apologize for the inconvenience.”
Downloads of the Skype software are also temporarily disabled, the company reported.
There has been no word on exactly how many users are affected by the glitch, but customers in the United States, Canada, Europe, and South America have all reported being unable to log on to the Skype service. |
